It's weaker and softer than finished felt, and will still shrink and compress when being worked upon.

No, it shouldn't be that expensive! I usually buy small, thick industrial pre-felt pieces (like the dark grey I think I sent you with the swap) for €2/piece or thin ones, I think they're 80X80 cm, for €4.

But if you can get hold of wool roving, you can easily make the pre-felt yourself! Either wetfelted, the "correct" way, or you just punch a bit of wool roving with the embellisher before adding the fabric or other material to it!Anneli/Bockfilzhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10055116575322157760noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4828630478763877333.post-16652043901796974812009-01-27T22:01:00.000+01:002009-01-27T22:01:00.000+01:00ewittthese are lovely. what is pre-felt? i went t...ewittthese are lovely. what is pre-felt? i went to the local needlework shop and enquired about wool felt - she had acrylic felt for 85 cents for an A4 sheet. the wool felt was $100 a metre (and she only four little bits because it is so expensive no-one buys it!) i think i will be investigating other options. I may be able to buy the pre-felt on-line.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
